Guwahati, 29 August: Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 8000 Namghars in Assam, will get a grant of Rs 2.5 lakh each before 15/10/2020.
The minister on social media platform Twitter said that these grants will be done under the Asom Darshan scheme, phase 2.
Rs. 2.5 Lakh for 8000 Namghars in Assam:
Mr. Sarma also said, “Namghars, as conceived by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, symbolize the collective identity and culture of the people of Assam.”
Mandir (Temple), Maszid, and Churches are not included in this scheme.
The phase 1 will include 55 Namghars in Each constituency of Assam. The Deputy Commissioners of respective areas will make the list of Namghars to include.
Preference will be given to the oldest Namghars and the ST/SC areas where the people are financially backward to construct a Namghar by themselves.
The fund for Namghars in the Asom Darshan scheme will be granted within the first week of October.
Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Asom Darshan scheme will also allow 377 religious institutions in Assam a financial aid of Rs. 10 Lakh each.
