Guwahati: Speaking at a press conference held today at Janata Bhawan, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced certain relaxations in its lockdown guidelines.

The state government has approved for two days the inter-district movement of individuals on Mondays and Tuesdays every week till August 15. Along with this, It has also approved of the opening of all shops including gymnasiums, salons, and shopping malls on one side of the road in the city as per the existing relaxation.

State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was quite ecstatic on the improving COVID rate, though maintaining his composure that one shouldn’t take this as a win-win sign as the situation continues to remain critical. Himanta while addressing the presser said, “At least three more relaxations have been proposed till August 15. We have allowed inter-district travel on Mondays and Tuesdays weekly. Also, as all shops including gym, shopping mall, and salons can operate on alternate days as per existing norms. Also, 100 percent attendance in offices has been allowed by adhering to COVID protocols.”

Though he also clearly mentioned that the weekend lockdown will continue to remain in place across the State till Aug 15.

He also added that the Chief Secretary will be soon announcing the guidelines to be followed in Unlock 3.
