Sikkim Chief Secretary: Lockdown in Sikkim Extended to August 1

Lockdown in Sikkim extented

Sikkim: The Government of Sikkim has decided to extend the statewide lockdown in Sikkim till August 1 to stop the COVID-19 spread in the hilly state.

a notification issued by S C Gupta (Chief Secretary, Government of Sikkim) he said, “After careful consideration of the situation, it has been decided to extend the period of lockdown in the entire state of Sikkim till 6 AM of August 1, 2020”.

Sikkim Government imposed a complete 6 days lockdown in Sikkim which will end on Sunday (2nd August) at 6 am.

Sikkim registered its first COVID-19 death on Sunday, 26th July after a 74-year-old man 67-year-old man lost his battle with the virus at STNM Hospital in Gangtok.

Sikkim COVID-19 tally on 27th July morning:

Sikkim has 357 active cases of COVID-19, while the total cases stand at 499, a senior health official said. However, 142 patients have been recovered from the coronavirus infection as per reports.
