Shillong COVID-19 Update: “Mawlai traffic branch has been closed temporarily”, says Meghalaya Police.
Meghalaya police have informed that the Mawlai traffic branch has been temporarily closed with immediate effect after a police official of the branch came into close contact with a COVID-19 patient.
“The staff of the traffic branch are currently under medical observation; and the branch is being disinfected and sanitized as per protocols,” Assistant Inspector General of Police G. Iangrai informed.
Iangrai further said that the branch will resume functioning only after being declared fit for re-occupation as per the laid down protocols.
A statement from Meghalaya Police requested the general public residing within the jurisdiction of the Mawlai Traffic Branch to approach the Lumdiengjri Traffic Branch for assistance in traffic-related issues, whereas other matters relating to the Police Station works can be reported at the Mawlai Police Station which is functioning normally.
Update: Meghalaya Police announced on Twitter that Nongmynsong Out-Post in Meghalaya has also been closed temporarily.
On Twitter Meghalaya Police said, “Nongmynsong Out-Post which was temporarily closed after the officials of the Out-Post came into close proximity with a secondary contact, has been declared as fit for re-occupation w.e.f. 27th July 2020.”
