Assam, 22nd August: After many months of wait, anticipation, shrouded in controversy, the Assam government on Saturday announced the ropeway services between Guwahati and North Guwahati will become operational from August 24.

The launching of the ropeway services will take place in the presence of state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. It is reported that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to be present at the launch event.

The ropeway route joining Guwahati-North Guwahati is slated to be the longest distance over a river in the country. The ropeway services will cover a distance of 2 kilometres within approximately seven minutes. 35 passengers can hope in the ropeway at a time.
