Guwahati, 29 August: While speaking at a press conference today, state education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced financial remuneration of Rs 20,000 to about 16,944 students who have passed with 75% and above percentage in the HSLC exams. The amount will be provided to the meritorious students under the Anundorum Barooah Award, announced education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at a presser in Guwahati on Friday.
“Earlier laptops were provided to the students under this scheme. This year, we are giving Rs. 20 thousand each to 16,944 students. The students will get the money on September 12 or 13,” said minister Sarma.
Results of HSLC exams for the year 2020 were declared on June 6. The government has already collected the bank details of the candidates who had passed the exams with 75 percent or more marks.
As MoS, P&D, I initiated the Anandaram Barooah Award, in 2005, by which 1 laptop was provided to the students, who secured 1st division in HSLC Exam. However,due to COVID this year, instead of procuring laptops, we will give Rs 20,000 by DBT to16944 students by 15/9/2020. pic.twitter.com/4FDeLu91uO
