Taking cognizance of the present situation, Assam Government has decided to follow its own set of guidelines for Unlock 3. Among the restrictions in place in the State are 12-hour night curfew, weekend lockdown in all urban areas and ban in inter-district movement of individuals.
The restriction in the inter-district movement of people has been relaxed for two days from Thursday, with specific guidelines for movement. The easing of the restrictions has been decided by the state authorities ahead of Eid-Ul-Adha that will be celebrated on August 1. The inter-district movement has been specially been allowed for the people to reach their homes ahead of the festival.
Besides, a few districts have their lockdowns and other restrictions as decided by the local administration.
With the increasing number of Covid cases, the state health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government will not implement all guidelines of Unlock 3 at least for the time being.
“We will be following the guidelines specified by the State government at least till August 15. The situation is showing slight signs of improvement. We cannot lose the work done and achieved so far with our restrictions to check the spread of COVID,” Sarma said.
The opening of shops and malls too shall be followed as per the state authority guidelines till August 15m, after Dr, Himanta Biswa Samra reviewed the Covid situation in the state after conducting a video conference with principals, superintendents and doctors of all medical colleges.
Meanwhile, the Centre has released its Unlock guidelines in which night curfew has been removed as well as allowed yoga institutes and gymnasiums to open among others.
